Dear Prospective Student,
Nutritional scientists apply the tools of physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, as well as epidemiology and social sciences, to questions that are important for understanding the impact of nutrition on human health.
Our master’s program prepares you for a career as a member of basic, clinical or epidemiological research teams in academia, industry or public health settings. The Nutrition Sciences program also offers excellent preparation for further professional and other graduate studies in medical, life sciences, and public health specialties. Our graduate program is designed to provide you with flexible and critical thinking skills that will allow you to keep pace with the rapidly moving field of nutrition. Depending on your level of preparation, the master’s program can be completed in one calendar year.
The integrative nature of nutrition science provides a superb background for professional studies in medicine and dentistry, as well as research careers in academia and industry. It also provides a solid foundation for career advancement in clinical and community nutrition research and medical writing. The recent emergence of the nutriceutical industries provides additional opportunities for nutrition scientists with master’s degrees.
