| My current research interests: The cognitive neuroscience of music, developmental neuropsychology, the effects of experience and training on neuroplasticity, and psychoneuroimmunology. | |
| How I became involved in the LEN Lab: I joined the LEN Lab in my junior year after i completed a semester abroad working as a research assistant in the neuroscience of music. I was interested in gaining more research experience and I felt that the LEN Lab’s unique approach of relating neurology with human behavaior was very complimentary to my research interests. | |
| What I am currently working on in the LEN Lab: This year I have been primarily involved with assisting in preparing books and articles for publication. This has included conducting literature searches, formatting articles and book chapters, and creating an index for Dr. McNamara’s in press book: The Neuroscience of Religious Experience and the Self. I currently the editor of the LEN Lab website and I have also been transcribing and scoring data for the REM/NREM sleep study. | |
| My experience working in the LEN Lab: Working in the LEN Lab has afforded me many opportunities to gain practical research experience, to apply my previous knowledge and skills to meaningful projects, and to expand my knowledge in fields related to those I may study in the future. | |
| How I think the LEN Lab is helping me obtain my long-term goals: By working in the LEN Lab, I have gained a new insight into, and appreciation for, the entire research process. This process includes things such as grant writing, conducting research with participants, scoring and analyzing data, publishing, and even media & press. I feel that understaing how each component of research fits together and appreciating what it takes to build up a successful lab will help me develop into a better researcher in the future. | |
