Long-term goals: Although I don’t know specifically what I’ll be doing in the future, I hope to pursue a career in a field which utilizes research implications and theories in applied settings. I would love to connect research to concrete practice so that general society, as well as the academic community, could benefit from scientific research.
My current research interests: My current research interests include the mechanisms of REM sleep and the particular impact of REM sleep on depression.
What I am currently working on in the LEN Lab: Right now, one of my main roles in the LEN Lab is to transcribe and score data for the REM/NREM sleep project. I have also been assisting with publication preparation. In the past I have assisted with several of the LEN Lab’s projects including the Pragmatics of Parkinson’s Disease study and Phylogeny of Sleep project.
How I think the LEN Lab is helping me obtain my long-term goals: Although I am leaning towards the human services side of of the spectrum, I know that my research experience in the LEN Lab will help me gain the skills and insight necessary to further myself in the field. Having first-hand understanding of the intricacies of the research process will build my critical thinking skills and provide me with profound perspective.
