Research: My dissertation project is broadly focused on building a greater understanding of the immune response to bacterial pneumonia. More specifically, my project is aimed at dissecting the pathways which are used by the bacteria, Streptococcus pneumoniae to subvert detection by lung macrophages. The project will also focus on examining the naturally acquired adaptive immune response to pnuemonoccus, and the effect on lung innate immunity.
