International Health

The internal medicine residency program at the Boston University Medical center is active in promoting resident participation in global health activities. Boston University School of Medicine has a rich tradition in international health work, including clinical, research and educational outreach and service in a variety of countries.

Due to our residency program’s active collaboration with the BUSM International Health Program, the BU Global Health Initiative, and the BU School of Public Health, residents have access to multidisciplinary faculty advisors, as well as residents and students who are participating in international programs.

Residents have had opportunities to work in several regions of the world, including Africa, Southern and Southeast Asia and Central America. We have a well-established elective experience in Lesotho which is staffed by faculty in Medicine, Family Medicine and Pediatrics, and is open to residents. We continue to expand our boundaries to offer additional global health sites for our residents, in partnership with the BUSM International Health Program and BU faculty.
