FAQ Regarding the 610 Albany Street Garage

Q.: Who will park in the 610 Albany Street garage?

A.: BMC and BU faculty, staff and tenants currently enrolled in the parking program. There will be no cash transactions in the lobby. All patients and visitors will continue to park in the 710 Albany St. garage.

Q.: What do I need to do to get my ID activated?

A.: Stop by the parking office at 710 Albany Street with your ID to sign for your new permit, payroll deduction and we will activate your ID.

Q.: What are the business hours for the 610 garage?

A.: The 610 Garage will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may park in the 710 Garage after 5:30 PM on weekdays and 24/7 on weekends.

Q.: How do I enter and exit the 610 Garage?

A.: You enter the 610 Garage on the roadway that leads to the 710 garage and then turn right onto BioSquare Drive. Continue on BioSquare Drive until you reach the 610 Garage.. To exit, you come out of the garage onto BioSquare Drive and turn right onto East Newton Street Private Way. Take this to Albany Street. At the Albany Street traffic signal, you can turn right, left or go straight. EAST NEWTON PRIVATE WAY IS ONE WAY EXIT ONLY DO NOT ENTER.

Q.: What about safety, security and escorts to the garage?

A.: The 610 Garage is designed the same way as the 710 and DOB Garages. It is equipped with cameras and emergency blue call boxes on each floor. Vehicles can only access the garage through card access. The garage will be patrolled by parking attendants and public safety officers on foot, vehicle and bikes. The pedestrian pathways are all new and well lit. BU Police will provide additional patrols throughout the day, evening and night shifts. The evening shuttle operates from the 710 Garage from 5:15 PM to 12:15 AM on weeknights and will transport parkers to the 610 Garage. You may also contact the public safety dispatch center @ 414-4444 at all other times for an escort.

Q.: If I am not currently in the parking program how can I sign up?

A.: At this time we are reviewing capacity issues to ensure we can accommodate off site parkers as well as reviewing the waiting list. Please contact the OPTS from time to time to see if availability exists on or off site.

Q.: What do I do with my access card from the off site lots?

A.: Please return your access card to the OPTS or hand it to one of the attendants staffing the 610 Garage. There is a replacement fee for these access cards so it is imperative all of them get returned in a timely manner.

Q.: How does the traffic flow in the 610 Garage?

A.: When you enter the garage AND on each floor you MUST always turn right. This traffic flow is the same pattern whether you are entering or exiting the ramps. Please proceed with caution and follow signage as our parkers become familiar with the configuration of the garage.
