Levinsky Fellowship
The Department of Medicine and the Graduate Program in Molecular Medicine are pleased to announce that Elizabeth Stanford is the 2011-2013 recipient of the Levinsky Fellowship. Liz is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Union College in Biology and Anthropology. She received an MPH at Boston University under the guidance of Dr. David Sherr at the School of Public Health.
This award was established in memory of Norman Levinsky, MD, who was Chair of the DOM from 1972-1997, during which time he supported the development of basic research programs in the DOM, including Dr. Jack Murphy’s Section of BioMolecular Medicine and the Graduate Program in Molecular Medicine. After Dr. Levinsky, Dr. Murphy was instrumental in establishing a fellowship in Dr. Levinsky’s memory to support graduate education in the department. This two-year fellowship provides support for stipend, insurance and fees for one entering PhD student each year, and is awarded to the top-ranked first-year PhD student as assessed by the Admissions Committee of the program.
