Interdisciplinary Bridging Exam
Fellows are required to complete the qualifying exams of their home program / department. Qualifying exams formats vary across BU doctoral programs from closed book written exams to writing grant style proposals.
The Interdisciplinary Bridging Exam, required of TTPAS fellows, is an oral exam that is partially based on the Unifying Project article written by the fellow and includes additional questions to assess the breadth of the fellow’s knowledge within and across disciplines. Students who successfully complete this exam are positioned to cross the bridge from research in a single discipline to transdisciplinary research.
Fellows are required to take the Interdisciplinary Bridging Exam within three months of completing the Unifying Project.
