Welcome to the PhD  degree programs administered by the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences.  Students have broad options when it comes to graduate training at BUSM.

The Graduate Program for Neuroscience (GPN) is University wide, servicing the BU neuroscience community, the Program in Biomedical Sciences (PiBS) is a new medical campus portal that allows entry into  several PhD departments and programs (Biochemistry, Biophysics, Genetics and Genomics, Immunology Training Program, Microbiology, Molecular Medicine, Nutrition and Metabolism, Pathology & Laboratory and Physiology);  Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics and Behavioral Neuroscience are Inter-Departmental  while Anatomy & Neurobiology and Oral Biology are Department-based.

We enjoy funding from the National Institutes of Health to support training in specific areas including but not limited to: Aging, Biomolecular Pharmacology, Cancer Biology, Cardiovascular Biology, Inflammation, Metabolism, Endocrinology and Obesity, Pathogenesis, Pulmonary Biology and Immunology. Additionally we have a robust mentorship program that emphasizes professional development and career opportunities.

Additional programs of study:

• Combined  Doctor of Optometry (OD) and PhD degree is also available in conjunction with The New England College of Optometry (NECO).
• * A Vesalius “Certificate” is also available to PhD students in the Anatomy and Neurobiology department.
