| Description: | Workshop is intended for international postdocs in the United States in nonimmigrant classifications. Will cover long-term immigration alternatives, strategies and timing considerations for postdoctoral researchers preparing to apply for U.S. Lawful Permanent Residence and will also provide an overview of BU sponsorship policies and procedures.
The session co-sponsored by the BUMC Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) and the BU International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO).

Sharryn E. Ross is the Senior Partner in the firm of Ross Silverman LLP in Boston, MA. She practices exclusively in the field of immigration and nationality law, with an emphasis on business immigration. Ms. Ross has over 30 years of experience in immigration law, and has extensive experience representing companies, hospitals, and universities. She served as an elected member of the Board of Governors of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) for 12 years, and has chaired numerous national committees within AILA. She is currently the Vice-Chair of AILA’s Department of Labor Liaison Committee. She is a frequent lecturer on a wide range of issues in the immigration field. Ms. Ross has earned Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV rating, is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and has been named by Boston Magazine as a Massachusetts and New England Super Lawyer in the field of immigration law.
Jeanne E. Kelley is the Director of the Boston University International Students and Scholars Office and has been in the field of international education for over 18 years. She advises international students, scholars and university departments on immigration issues and specializes in non-immigrant employment matters and federal compliance. Jeanne obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark University in International Relations and a Master of Science degree from Boston University in International Communication.
