Boston University Medical Campus (BUMC) is located in the historic South End of Boston and comprises the Boston University School of Medicine, the Boston University School of Public Health, the Goldman School of Dental Medicine, and the Boston University Graduate School of Medical Sciences. Boston Medical Center is the primary teaching affiliate of Boston University School of Medicine. Renowned for the quality of teaching and research and for service to the community, these schools provide education and training in the most current thinking and techniques in their fields, with a particular focus on serving disadvantaged, underserved and indigent populations. Together, the schools employ more than 3,000 faculty members, many of whom are leading experts in their fields, and train a diverse group of more than 3,000 students.

Boston University Medical Campus has a rich history dating back to 1848 when it began as the New England Female Medical College, the first institution in the world to offer medical education to women and which graduated the first black woman physician. In 1873, the medical college merged with Boston University, becoming the first coeducational medical school in the nation. The Goldman School of Dental Medicine was founded in 1976, and the School of Public Health in 1976.
