Boston’s March for Science & GMS on April 22nd
There will be BUSM/GMS representation at the Boston March for Science on April 22, 2017. The March for Science provides an opportunity to celebrate the discovery, understanding, and sharing of scientific knowledge among friends and colleagues, educators, scientists and science enthusiasts throughout Greater Boston. We invite all faculty, staff and students to participate.
When: Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1PM
Where: BUSM/GMS will gather at the Boston Public Library (Copley side) and proceed to Boston Common for the national March for Science rally.
Guest Speaker: Alicia Wooton, PhD Candidate in Molecular & Translational Medicine at Boston University. She is deaf and uses both American Sign Language and spoken English as modes of communication. She is heavily involved in the deaf community as an advocate and serves on the Board of local non-profit, DEAF, Inc. Alicia’s interests include lung biology and how the immune system functions against pathogens. She cares about making science communication accessible to all minority groups, especially those in the deaf community who want to pursue science careers.

All students, faculty, and staff are invited to join GMS, STEPUP, & MISO for a poster-making session on April 19th at 5pm in L210.
Additionally, GMS will be giving out custom made #BUGradsMarchforScience buttons all week. Stop by the office (L317) between 9am-5pm to pick one up!
