Geriatric Oncology Curriculum

Year 1

The first year is composed of 10 months of Geriatrics training and 2 months of clinical Hematology/Oncology.

Outpatient Longitudinal Experiences: Geriatric oncology fellows participate in ½ day per week of outpatient Geriatrics clinic and ½ day per week of outpatient hematology or oncology clinic throughout their first year of fellowship.

Inpatient Rotation

Year 2

The second year is composed of 12 months of clinical hematology/oncology. Each fellow will participate in two ½ day continuity clinics per week in addition to the block rotations at each site, one hematology and one oncology.

Inpatient/Outpatient Block Rotation

Year 3

Each fellow has two ½ day continuity clinics per week in addition to the block rotations, can request both hematology or oncology, or one of each.

Inpatient/Outpatient Block Rotation

Year 4

At least one ½ day continuity clinic at the VA. Many fellows do more ½ day clinics per week, if more clinically rather than research focused.  Clinics are available at BMC, the Boston VA or at both sites.  Fellow picks the longitudinal clinic experience in subspecialty or general oncology and hematology based on interest and career plans.
