- The 30th Annual Generalists in Medical Education Conference, November 6-7, 2009 at the Hilton Boston Back Bay in Boston, MA. The theme is “Medical Education: Maintaining Momentum in Challenging Times” and will target how educators continue to address legitimate concerns, such as negotiating limited resources, applying technology in education, dealing with limitations of standardized tests, and preserving a space for the investigation of novel teaching and assessment methods.

The Alliance for Clinical Education (ACE) is a multidisciplinary group formed in 1992 to enhance clinical instruction of medical students. ACE’s mission is to foster collaboration across specialties in order to promote excellence in clinical education of medical students.

- NYU School of Medicine’s Program for Medical Education Innovations and Research (PrMEIR) presents “Medical Education Matters: A Theory Building Conference” on Nov 16, 2009, 8:00 - 5:00, Helen and Martin Kimmel Center for University Life, New York University, 60 Washington Square South, New York, NY 10012. The conference will design a conceptual model for educationally-sensitive patient outcomes, and chart a roadmap for medical education outcomes research.
- AAMC Mid-Career Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar program, December 5-8, 2009, the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. The program objectives are to: Visualize potential paths to leadership and develop career plans to advance towards that vision; Improve knowledge of institutional finance and departmental budgeting processes; Strengthen selected skills such as negotiation, communication, conflict, personnel and time management; and Expand networks of mentors and colleagues in academic medicine.

- The Ottawa 2010 Conference on Assessment in the Healthcare Professions, will be held in Miami from 15-20 May 2010. Six themes in particular will be addressed: Criteria for a good assessment; Technology-based assessment; Performance assessment; Assessment of professionalism; Assessment for selection for the healthcare professions and specialty training; Research in assessment.Call for papers is until 30 December 2009.
