PowerPoint Days!!!

The Office of Information Technology and the Office of Medical Education
Faculty Development Program invite you to attend 3 PowerPoint Workshops:

Workshop 1: Thursday, Nov. 1, 4:30 – 5:45 pm. PowerPoint and CourseInfo

  • Goal: The purpose of this interactive workshop is to provide the BUSM faculty with the content and skills to insert PowerPoint presentations into CourseInfo.
  • Learning Objectives: By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
    – Describe the various formats for posting presentations onto CourseInfo
    – Include appropriate copyright citations
    – Convert PowerPoint files to PDF’s
    – Post presentations onto CourseInfo site
    – Ask questions in a troubleshooting segment

Workshop 2: Thursday, Nov 8, 4:30 – 5:45 pm. Best Practices for PowerPoint

  • Goal: The purpose of the best practices workshop is to provide the content and skills to design and produce a PowerPoint presentation that clearly communicates your instructional message.
  • Learning Objectives: By the end of the Best Practices workshop, you will be able to:
    – Utilize the PowerPoint design decision points to organize your content
    – Follow the PowerPoint best practices components to format your presentation

Workshop 3: Thursday, Nov 15, 4:30 – 5:45 pm. Advanced PowerPoint Techniques

  • Goal: The aim of this advanced workshop is to provide you with specific audio, visual and interactivity skills to enhance your instruction in PowerPoint presentations.
  • Learning Objectives: By the end of the advanced workshop, you will be able to:
    – Animate text and objects
    – Add audio and video components
    – Include interactivity (TurningPoint ARS, annotations, and hyperlinks)
    – Reduce and save large PowerPoint files

Workshop Location: Room L1110 Computer Room in Alumni Medical Library (exit elevator on 12th floor, enter Library, go down stairs to 11th floor and turn left.)

Registration: The workshops are limited by computer lab space and to BUSM faculty, so please click here to register by 10/25/2007. The 11/15/07 Workshop is now full.

If you are unfamiliar with working in MS PowerPoint or are using PowerPoint 2007, please contact Joy Deligianides at joyd@bu.edu 617-414-1470 for some assistance in getting you started. Although we will be working on PCs, you can bring your MAC laptop for MAC-specific PowerPoint information.
