Backup Childcare

The Department of Medicine at Boston Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine is pleased to announce a new childcare benefit for our faculty and staff (EMF managers and directors in exempt status). The department is subsidizing an agreement with a company – Parents in a Pinch – to provide episodic childcare in the home:

  • When your child is mildly ill
  • When you have to work late or on weekends
  • During school vacations and Monday holidays
  • Anytime when you have a gap in your child care arrangements

Backup childcare is available during the day or evening, seven days/week and applies to work-related childcare needs. Just call Parents in a Pinch (617 739 5437) and identify yourself as faculty or staff of the Department of Medicine at Boston Medical Center. You will be required to pay the caregiver $15.00/hr on the day of service and a four-hour minimum charge may apply.

If you have questions regarding who this benefit applies to, please contact Dr Krishnamurthy or Dr Benjamin. If you have questions about the service, see their brochure.

We are eager to help our faculty and staff meet their episodic childcare needs through this service and hope you will find it useful.

“I used the parents in a pinch service two days this week because my usual provider was out of town. It has been excellent. Easy to set up and the woman who is with the kids is wonderful. And it kept me from  having to miss days of work.

I wanted to thank you for providing the service.”
