3. Description of the proposed faculty development opportunity and benefit (0.5 page)

  • Summarize the main features of the educational program and show evidence of its quality
  • For Assistant Professors and Instructors: How will the training opportunity benefit your career goals?
  • For Associate or Full Professors: How will the training benefit BUMC, BUSM, DOM, or section through newly acquired skills?

4. Reporting back and mentoring

  • How will you implement the lessons learned during the program?
  • For Assistant Professors and Instructors: What mentoring plan do you have in place to help you apply the lessons of the program?
  • For Associate and Full Professors: How will you share your insights with peers and trainees?

5. Detailed Budget

  • Cost breakdown by element – course fee, materials, travel, lodging, etc

C. Support from Section

1. Letter from Section Chief or Mentor should outline:

  • Section Support – types of support:
  • Financial support for the training opportunity (typically ½ of the cost). Please specify if the funds will come from the usual discretionary allowance or from additional sources.
  • Relief from clinical, educational or administrative duties
  • How the faculty and their training will benefit the division.
  • Mentoring plan

    • What support will early career faculty receive upon returning from the training?
    • How will mid-career and senior faculty contribute to the education of trainees?
