Educational Needs Addressed

Virtual colonoscopy is a relatively newly adopted technique with support from multiple societies for widespread colorectal cancer screening. Appropriate techniques and interpretation skills are vital to its performance. The goal of the course is to educate its attendees in the technique, performance, and interpretation of virtual colonoscopy. In addition, the course will provide a forum for the discussion of research initiatives, regulatory issues, and reimbursement environment. Appropriate training in CTC is necessary to acquire proficiency in interpretation and reporting of CTC studies. The goal of the Training Course component is to educate the attendees in the interpretation and reporting of CTC studies through the supervised review of fifty sample cases.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this conference, participants will:

  1. Recognize the techniques necessary to acquire diagnostic CTC images, including patient preparation, CT scanning parameters and display/navigation methods.
  2. Be able to review the methods of interpretation and means to avoid pitfalls.
  3. Discuss the current research initiatives, regulatory issues and reimbursement environment.
  4. Acquire the proficiency necessary to interpret and report CTC studies through supervised review of 50 cases. (Training Course attendees only)
