Veda Andrus, EdD, MSN, RN, HN-BC Veda Andrus, EdD, MSN, RN, HN-BC is Vice President, Education and Program Development for The BirchTree Center for Healthcare Transformation. She was Founding President/CEO of Seeds and Bridges Center for Holistic Nursing Education (1983-2000) where she co-created The Certificate Program in Holistic Nursing and other professional development continuing education programs. She is the first board certified Holistic Nurse (HN-BC) in the US. Dr. Andrus is past President and International Director for the American Holistic Nurses Association (1991-1995) and is the recipient of the 2004 Holistic Nurse of the Year award.  She is former faculty at Goddard College, Health Arts and Science Program, and former faculty for the Global Medicine Education Foundation. She served as the Delegation Leader for the first Holistic Nursing Delegation to China and Mongolia in 1994 through the Citizen Ambassador Program of People-to-People International.  Dr. Andrus is on the Board of Directors for the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) and on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Holistic Nursing.  She has authored many articles and book chapters including a chapter in the AJN 2002 Book of the Year: Holistic Health and Healing.


Marie Shanahan, MA, BSN, RN, HN-BC Marie Shanahan, MA, BSN, RN, HN-BC is the Founder and President of The BirchTree Center for Healthcare Transformation. She is nationally board certified in Holistic Nursing and has consulted to healthcare organizations since 1998, helping them to develop caring cultures and healing environments. Ms. Shanahan received advanced training in holistic nursing and integrative therapies. Her experience includes clinical, administrative and educational roles. She was principal investigator for a two year Robert Wood Johnson Foundation research study establishing the link between holistic nursing and improved RN retention and patient satisfaction in an acute care hospital. She established and coordinated the first hospital-based Holistic Nursing Center in NJ in 1996. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Holistic Nurses Association. She is the author of several articles on holistic healthcare and integrative therapies. She has presented at the American Holistic Nurses Association, American Organization for Nurse Executives, American Hospital Association Health Forum on Integrative Care and the National Database of Nurse Quality Indicators among others. Her most recent publication is a chapter co-authored with Veda Andrus: Holistic Leadership in the Core Curriculum for Holistic Nursing.


Mary Shckelford, RN, HN-BC, HC Mary Shackelford, RN, HN-BC, HC is the founder of Mary Shackelford Wellness Solutions.  Mary’s mission is to ignite passion for health and wellbeing in all those she comes in contact. She is a respected, warm and insightful expert in the field of wellness and stress management. She is a holistic registered nurse with more than twenty years’ experience.  As a result of several life changing events, Mary began to focus on wellness and the connection of mindbodyspirit to health. She has taken her personal interest in wellbeing and made it her life’s work.  She fulfills one of her top passions in life by cultivating and facilitating health, wellbeing and passion in others as a health coach, speaker and facilitator.  Using her education and life experiences she provides a wealth of information and tools to empower her audience to find a sense of health and happiness.


Pamela Potenzo, RN, BSN, HNB-BC,CHT Pamela Potenzo, RN, BSN, HNB-BC,CHT has over 30 years of extensive experience creating wellness for clients in the hospital, community and corporate setting. She received her BSN from California State University Dominguez Hills with honors and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.  As a board certified Holistic nurse, she is the President of the American Holistic Nursing Association (AHNA) Coachella Valley, Ca. Chapter. Pamela holds certifications in Feng Shui, Healing Touch, Life, Career and Wellness coaching. Pamela is currently self-employed as an educator and consultant offering presentations and programs that focus on integrative wellness strategies.  As a wellness advocate, Pamela believes people can empower themselves and improve their health by integrating the best of both Eastern and Western healthcare practices.
