International Women’s Day focuses on women, their struggles and their achievements toward education, empowerment and health. In honor of this global event, this conference will focus on health risks which face many women and which are too infrequently discussed. We will emphasize the impact that healthcare providers can have towards screening, treatment and advocacy for these women at risk and will outline practical, interdisciplinary management of these health challenges.

Target Audience
Family medicine physicians, obstetricians, gynecologists, nurses, midwives, social workers, mental health specialists and all other providers of women’s healthcare.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this live activity, the participants will be able to:
- Discuss effective ways to address the barriers to healthcare in underserved, minority and multicultural populations.
- Provide comprehensive management and optimize outcomes for pregnancies affected by HIV or opiate addiction.
- Find and counsel woman at increased risk of anal cancer about risk reducing strategies.
- Effectively identify survivors of sexual trauma and exploitation, provide basic post-assault medical care, and act as advocate for survivor’s long-term reproductive and mental health.
- Optimize contraception and abortion counseling in obese patients.
- List the role and limitations of insulin sensitizers in the management of obese women with anovulatory infertility.
- Devise a rational and collaborative plan for prevention and management of obesity in women of all ages.
- Identify environmental factors that may have an impact on the reproductive health of women.

Boston University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
