Emily Feinberg, ScD, CPNP is Associate Professor at Boston University School of Public Health in the department of Community Health Sciences as well as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Feinberg uses her training in public health and pediatric nursing to improve access to care and the quality of care for vulnerable children and their families. Her research is focused on developing new models of service delivery for children with autism and expanding the scope of early intervention programs to address family mental health. She has received a grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to improve early identification and linkage to services for low-income, urban children, who currently are diagnosed later and experience greater delays in service than their more advantaged peers. Professionally, Dr. Feinberg is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Dorchester Multi-Service Center in Boston, MA. She also serves as a consultant to the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) and is currently evaluating a pilot collaboration between the BPHC and the Boston Housing Authority to provide housing and intensive case management to women with medical risk experiencing homelessness. Specifically, Bringing Life Course Home: Improving Health through Housing Stability and Support, for which Dr. Feinberg is the Principal Investigator, supports an expanded evaluation of the Healthy Start in Housing Program, which provides priority access to permanent housing to homeless pregnant women at risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Currently, she is also co-director of Project Solve, a set of research projects dedicated to preventing depression among mothers of vulnerable children. Further, she is an Advisory Board member for Motherwoman a Massachusetts-based non-profit that supports and empowers mothers thought support groups, professional training, and policy advocacy.
Dr. Feinberg serves as an ad hoc journal reviewer for Academic Pediatrics, Appetite, Archives of Disease in Childhood, BioMed Central Pediatrics, Child: Care, Health, and Development, Inquiry, JAMA, Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved, Journal of Rural Health, Maternal and Child Health Journal, and Pediatrics.
Dr. Feinberg received her ScD and MSc from Harvard School of Public Health, her MSN in Parent-Child Nursing from Simmons College, and her BSN from Boston University.
