Barbara Walsh

Biography

Barbara M. Walsh, MD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics in Emergency Medicine at the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. In addition to traditional medical training, she has received training at the University of Massachusetts by earning a Teaching with Simulation Faculty Development Certificate and by attending an Instructor Workshop in Medical Simulation at Harvard Medical School. In the course of her career Dr. Walsh has worked in a variety of roles in the field of pediatrics including as a Discussion leader, Co-course developer, Program director, and as a Faculty leader. She is a noted lecturer in the medical field and has given over fifty lectures and presentations. She is licensed in both New York and Massachusetts. Dr. Walsh runs the COMET program – community outreach mobile education training which is a comprehensive in situ high fidelity simulation program for inter-professional teams to participate in high risk, low frequency resuscitation events to work on team work, communication, systems issues. It is a comprehensive patient quality and safety initiative that Dr. Walsh has created and run since 2010. It encompasses all disciplines and units of medical practice and is run nationally.

Dr. Walsh is Director of Mobile Outreach and In Situ Simulation as well as the Associate Director/Pediatrics at the Solomont Simulation Center at Boston Medical center where she directs all in situ training and education for interdisciplinary providers.
