Alumni Weekend 2015

Alumni Weekend 2015
BUSM Alumni reunite, reconnect, reminisce

Alumni from throughout the country gathered together for a weekend of events that included class reunions and the 140th Annual Meeting and Banquet. Highlights included Alumni Grand Rounds by Christine Hunter (MED ’80), chief medical officer for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, who spoke about the Fourth Aim in providing clinical service.  That is the “Care Team” and the provider’s self-care are essential to consider in order to fulfill the demands of today’s basic patient care expectations, and the ever-popular lecture on the early history of BUSM by James Brust (MED ’68).

Attendees also enjoyed student-led tours of the Student Residence and the exciting changes that have taken place in the Instructional Building, including the new state-of-the-art testing center on the 11thfloor and the Simulation Lab in the Dept. of Medicine,  the Gross Anatomy Lab, newly renovated Alumni Medical Library and the History Wall that features significant individuals in the School’s extraordinary heritage.  Among the returning graduates was an alumna from the Class of 1945, Marjorie Readdy-Smith, who celebrated her 70th Reunion.

The weekend was capped off with the Banquet where Sophia Dyer (MED ’93) received the 2015 Distinguished Alumna Award for her career in emergency medicine. Alumni, faculty and members of the Class of 2015 danced to the music of Four Guys in Tuxes and Alumni Association President, Margaret Duggan (MED ’90) welcomed incoming President Hellen Kim (MED ’91).
