Dr. Christina Borba Awarded November Distinguished Faculty of the Month

The Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that Christina Borba, PhD, MPH, is November’s Distinguished Faculty of the Month.

Dr. Borba is an associate professor; director of research Psychiatry; director of Medical Student Research, BUSM Enrichment Office; and director of BMC’s Global and Local Center for Mental Health Disparities.

She received her doctorate in public health from Emory University and her master’s degree in public health from Boston University.

She supervises and provides research-related trainings for all research teams within the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Borba has extensive experience in mixed methods research, teaching and training, and development and management of randomized clinical trials. Her current research focuses on psychotic disorders and cultural psychiatry in low-resourced settings in the U.S. and abroad, women’s mental health, and gender differences in care.

The nomination states: “Dr. Borba has gone above and beyond as a research mentor and resource for research help. She holds open sessions for students to learn data analysis software, connects students with resources for getting IRB approval, and provides help using RedCap and analyzing data. And she does all of this with no recognition.”

“She truly has student researcher interests at heart and is committed to fostering the next generation of physician researchers, no matter the department or type of research.”

Congratulations!
