MEC Seeks Clinical Faculty Member

The BUSM Medical Education Committee (MEC) is looking for a clinical faculty member to serve as an alternate at-large member.

The MEC has been the main governing body for BUSM curriculum decision making and oversight since changes in the bylaws in 2003. The bylaws call for rotating representation from two faculty-at-large (a basic scientist and clinician). There also are two alternate faculty-at-large (a basic scientist and clinician), to ensure full voting representation at all meetings. This serious commitment may involve work in addition to the monthly committee meetings. In addition to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, MEC membership includes Dean Antman, the elected chairs of the Pre-Clerkship Curriculum and Clerkship Curriculum Subcommittees, four student representatives and four alternate student members selected by SCOMSA, and several ad hoc members.

If you would like to serve on the MEC, please forward your name and a paragraph of no more than 200 words stating your experience in medical education and why you would like to be a member of the committee to Athena Gomez-Hipolito (ahipolit@bu.edu) by Oct. 21. A committee will review the submissions, and those selected will be entered into an online ballot for full faculty vote.
