Public Safety Update

The Department of Public Safety has seen an increase in criminal activity on the Medical Campus properties. In the last month eight bicycles have been stolen from racks or locked on and around the streets surrounding our properties. The Department has apprehended some suspects on a few occasions and is using video surveillance to identify others.

Please go to http://www.bumc.bu.edu/publicsafety/ for safety and security tips while at work or school. With a new academic year just beginning, students are urged to enroll in the bike cage program so that bikes can be securely locked in one of the two bike cages on campus. To register, stop by the Parking and Transportation Office at 710 Albany St. and speak to the TranSComm Office.

Students, faculty and staff are  reminded  if you “see something, say something” by contacting Public Safety at 617-414-4444. Officers patrol on foot, bicycles and in vehicles, and also are assigned to numerous lobbies in BU and BMC buildings.  BU Police partners also patrol the Medical Campus and will assist you as well. Please familiarize yourself with the blue call boxes installed throughout the campus properties that directly dial our dispatchers.

Lastly, members of the Medical Campus community are encouraged to program 617-414-4444 into your cell phones so it is readily available if you need Public Safety response or an escort or want information about the Department  shuttle service.

If you have any questions or concerns about your personal safety on the Medical Campus, please contact Executive Director of Support Services Connie Packard at cpack@bu.edu.
