BUSM Faculty and Framingham Heart Study Researchers Among Thompson Reuters’ World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds 2014
BUSM faculty members and Framingham Heart Study Researchers are listed in Thompson...
BUSM faculty are invited to participate in a unique one-day workshop, the Art of Observation: Using tools of art to become better teachers and doctors.
This session taps into the tools and perspectives of art for teaching purposes. The workshop will be conducted by Alexa Miller, a noted art educator, who has done innovative work applying art to the teaching of medical students and residents. Both Warren Hershman, MD and Gopal Yadavalli, MD, have participated in both local and national presentations she has given and found her work to be quite exciting, with great application for our work as teachers and doctors. The workshop will examine what observing is all about and address basic strategies for applying the Visual Thinking Strategies method to facilitate observation-based discussions in clinical training.
The workshop will feature interactive encounters with works of art, creative exercises, reflection on the processes of teaching and learning, and relevant research, theories and methods. We will serve a light breakfast, lunch and snacks. This promises to be an exciting opportunity to improve skills and have some fun.
