Attend Medical Education Workshops in December

The Office of Medical Education Faculty Development Program invites faculty and staff to attend the following three workshops

Teaching Evidence Based Medicine Workshop, Monday, December 8, 2-4 p.m., L-1110, David Flynn, M.S. This workshop, conducted by the Education staff of the Alumni Medical Library, will demonstrate how to teach the concept and practice of Evidence Based Medicine to students from various populations across campus. The librarians will also discuss strategies they have developed to resolve some difficulties in teaching EBM.

Mentoring Medical Students Workshop, Thursday, December 11, 12-2 p.m., in L-211, Ariel Hirsch, M.D.  Mentoring is an essential aspect of career development.  A mentor/mentee relationship can be mutually constructive.  The recent early faculty career survey identified mentorship as the area that had the highest level of interest for faculty development training.

Interactive Lecture Workshop, Friday, December 12, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in L-211, Gail March, Ph.D. The interactive lecture uses teaching strategies to provide a two-way active communication between the lecturer and the students during the presentation that enhances learning
