NIGMS Program in Biomolecular Pharmacology

PhD in Pharmacology
Students receiving the PhD in Pharmacology enroll in the Biomolecular Pharmacology Training Program that is supported by a training grant from NIGMS. The department has a unique partnership with Pfizer that brings students with industrial experience into the classroom and graduate community. Partnership with industry also provides rare summer experiences for all pharmacology students in Pfizer laboratories.

PhD in Biomedical Engineering
Students admitted into the Department of Biomedical Engineering on the Charles River campus (CRC) can join the Biomolecular Pharmacology Training Program. Laboratory rotations are offered with CRC and BUSM research groups. Students take shared curriculum with pharmacology students, attend pharmacology events and seminars, and gain an invaluable translational perspective for their studies.

PhD in Pharmacology and Neuroscience
The Pharmacology department offers a PhD in pharmacology and biomedical neuroscience in coordination with the university-wide Graduate Program for Neuroscience (GPN). Students complete their basic training in pharmacology taking the shared coursework with other pharmacology students as well as the “core” coursework in GPN. Their dissertation advisory committee contains a training faculty member from GPN who is also on the committee for the Qualifying Exam.
