Target Audience: Faculty, Students, Residents, Greater Boston Scientific Community (advertised in MIT’s Bulletin).

At the conclusion of this activity participants will be able to: 1) report that the current therapeutic landscape for patients with systemic AL amyloidosis has exciting highlights and recurrent valleys of despair; 2) recall that only a minority of patients are eligible for stem cell transplant and a significant fraction of them do not achieve complete hematologic responses; and 3) state that the majority of patients are not eligible for stem cell transplant and, while many benefit from bortezomib-based therapies, 40% of those with advanced heart involvement die within a year of diagnosis.
