At the conclusion of this activity participants will be able to: 1) state that the choroid plexus is the major source of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the vertebrate brain; 2) report that previous studies have demonstrated that choroid plexus-derived CSF signaling factors play an important role in regulating cerebral cortical development, yet the choroid plexus-CSF system is still an understudied area of neurobiology; and 3) recall the contributions of the choroid plexus transcriptome and secretome in the composition of the CSF from embryonic development into adulthood. These findings suggest the potential for improving diagnostic and prognostic markers in choroid plexus tumors.
