At the conclusion of this activity participants will be able to: 1) recognize the latest insights into the molecular mechanisms that underlie chronic kidney diseases (CKDs), such as dis-regulation of the actin cytoskeleton in podocytes as well as the role of regulatory GTPase dynamin in regulating actin cytoskeleton; 2) recall that dysregulation of the actin cytoskeleton in podocytes represents a common pathway in the pathogenesis of proteinuria across a spectrum of chronic kidney diseases (CKD) and 3) state that chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
