8:15AM Medical school begins. Report to Bakst Auditorium. Collect your First Day Packets.
8:30AM Welcome from School’s Deans with an Academies of Advising Introduction. Breakfast provided
for medical students.
12:30PM Lunch provided for medical students and collection of syllabus, White Coats, IDs, lockers
1:30PM Line-up for White Coat procession
2:00PM White Coat Ceremony ( 2 guests per medical student as we are seated in a tent on the lawn)
3:00PM White Coat Reception

AUGUST 11, 2012 Basic Life Support Training SATURDAY
Please be advised that you will participate in a BLS Certification Course on SATURDAY, August 11, 2012. Depending upon which Group you are assigned to, you will either participate from 8:30AM to 1:00PM, or from 12:30PM to 5:00PM. The Office of Student Affairs will assign the Groups, and there are no changes to group assignments permitted.
- Even if you are BLS certified presently, you may wish to participate in this training. BLS certification is offered to medical students only during their first year and third year orientations. Each certification is valid for two years.
- If your certification will expire before the end of your second year of medical school, then you should participate in this training. For students who elect not to participate in orientation BLS certification training, then the student is responsible for updating their certification, which includes covering the cost of re-certification.
- BLS certifications externally, that BMC will accept:
- American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR
- American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR
- A copy of your external BLS certification card is to be provided to the Office of Student Affairs upon your arrival to medical school if you elect to decline participation in the BLS training on 8/11/12.
