Step 2

What is the USMLE Step 2 Examination?

• It assesses a student’s ability to apply medical knowledge, skills, and understanding of clinical science essential for the provision of patient care under supervision and includes emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention
• It ensures that due attention is devoted to princpiles of clinical sciences and basic patient-centered skills that provide the foundation for the safe and competent practice of medicine

There are 2 parts of the Step 2 Examination:

• Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK)
• Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS)

Registration Deadlines

• All students must register and schedule a date for USMLE Step 2 CS no later than January 31, 2012
• All students must register and schedule a date for USMLE Step 2 CK no later than June 1, 2012
• All students must take USMLE Step 2 CK & CS no later than November 15, 2012
