Research Interests
I am a graduate student in the laboratory of Dr. Karen Symes where we are investigating the mechanisms of cell movement. To do this I am using the frog, Xenopus laevis as my model system. My project title is “The role of PDGF-A in the driected migration of the mesendoderm during gastrulation”. Currently I am examining what role fibronectin and heparan sulfate proteoglycans may play in this directed cell movement. Our lab employs several different and exciting methodologies including using Real-Time PCR, ex vivo migration assays, microdissections, mRNA microinjections, subcloing, and microscopy.
