PPP for Win2K
PPP for BUMC for Microsoft Windows 2000
Note to the user: Please read through this guide prior to setting up your PPP connection. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the PPP setup, please contact our HelpDesk (bumchelp@bu.edu or 617-638-5914)
Prerequisites:
- Have an established BUMC account
- Have an established BU/ACS account
- Have a working phone modem
- Download the following file: bupppXP.scp (save it to your Desktop)

Click on Start and go to Settings and then Network and Dial-up Connections

Locate and open Make New Connection

You may get a pop-up screen asking you to configure your Location Information (Skip to Step 4 if you do not get the screen). Click HERE to view directions on how to configure it

You will be greeted by a Welcome screen. Click on the Next button

Under the Network Connection Type select the first option: Dial-up to private network and click on Next

Under Phone Number to Dial, type in 6173781111 for the Phone Number and click on Next

Under the Connection Availability screen select the first option: For all users and click on Next

Under the Completing the Network Connection Wizard screen type in BUMC PPP for the name and check off Add a shortcut to my desktop and then click on Finish

After clicking on Finish the Connect to BUMC PPP screen should appear. Click on Properties

Under BUMC PPP Properties, select the second tab: Options and check off Include Windows logon domain.

Next click on the Security tab and check off Run Script and then click on Browse

You will need to copy the file (bupppXP.scp) and paste it in the directory
Note: Depending on how the system was setup, the file will show up as bupppXP or bupppXP.scp

Now select bupppXP.scp and click on Open

Click OK

You will be brought back to the Connect BUMC PPP screen. For the User name type in your BUMC User Name, for the Password field enter in your password, and finally enter in BUMC for the Domain.

Note: You may want to check off the save password box so you will not be prompted for your password each time you use the PPP connection. If you do save your password, be sure to set it to Me Only -
You are now connected to BUMC via PPP
