What is an ACS account?

  • An ACS account and associated Kerberos password provide you with access to BU resources such as email, website creation, and web-based applications.  Your ACS account is hosted and managed by Charles River Campus Information Technology.
  • Sometimes your ACS account is referred to as your BU account or BU email account.
  • You can use Outlook, Netscape, MAC Mail, or BU’s web-based email program called Horde to access this account
  • Your BU email address is loginname@bu.edu; If your email address is jdoe@bu.edu your login name is jdoe. You will be choosing a Kerberos password to access this account. This login name is also used as your BUMC username if you receive a BUMC account. This is why an ACS account is needed before a BUMC account can be created.

  • If eligible, fill out the online form at: http://www.bu.edu/computing/accounts/apply/individual.html .
