On August 28, 2009, Apple released the latest version of its operating system Snow Leopard. One new feature, enhanced support of Microsoft Exchange, requires Exchange Sever 2007; however, the BUMC server is running Exchange Server 2003. As a result, if you are using a Mac, you should continue to use Microsoft Entourage to check your BUMC Outlook/Exchange e-mail. We are actively taking steps to prepare for the introduction of Exchange Server 2007 later this calendar year.
In addition, our Cisco VPN client is currently NOT compatible with Snow Leopard. You can set up built-in VPN to use instead of the Cisco client. If you are using wireless on campus, you should consider switching to 802.1x, a new way to connect to wireless at BUMC that does not require VPN.

Please check your Outlook calendar for the week of October 27 to ensure that all appointments are listed at the correct time. The dates for Daylight Savings Time (DST) changed in 2007 and Outlook should have been updated at that time.
If you notice that your appointments are off by an hour, you can correct them manually or you can download a tool from Microsoft to scan your calendar. Please feel free to download the Time Zone Data Update Tool. Once you install it, find it in Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft Office Outlook Tools -> Time Zone Daylight Savings Update. Make sure the correct time zone is selected (GMT -05:00) and click OK. It will scan your calendar and fix it if needed.
Additional information can be found on PCSC’s website at http://www.bu.edu/pcsc/dst/.

If you got an e-mail from “upgrade@bu.edu” asking you to supply for you email username and email password appears to be a phishing scheme. We would *never* ask you to e-mail your password. Please just delete the e-mail. As always, if you have an e-mail that is suspect, you can call the Helpdesk to verify if it is legitimate.
