Mobile Devices
BUMC IT currently supports the following mobile devices:
1. Blackberry with Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) Service Plan
NOTE: A Blackberry without a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) service plan is not compatible with services provided by BUMC IT. Blackberry devices using Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) will not sync with the BUMC Outlook/Exchange Server and will not be supported by BUMC IT.
2. The following devices with Microsoft ActiveSync
Requirements for eligibility of BUMC IT mobile support:
- The device needs to be able to interact with Outlook/Exchange at BU (see above list of supported devices)
- The client that uses the device must currently utilize a BUMC Exchange account for their mail
- NOTE: If you do not have a BUMC Outlook/Exchange account, please refer to the BU IT Help Center for instructions on configuring your mobile device.
Support services for mobile devices that are provided by BUMC IT*:
- Setup mobile devices
- Reconfigure of mobile devices that have already been setup by BUMC IT
- Minor troubleshooting of default applications and OS (As a general rule, BUMC IT considers minor troubleshooting when it is under 15 min)**
Support services for mobile devices that are not provided by BUMC IT:
- Major troubleshooting of factory installed applications and OS (As a general rule, BUMC IT considers major troubleshooting when it is over 15 min)
- Troubleshooting of client-installed applications and OS
- Hardware repairs
- Installation/Configuration of third-party applications
- Data/phone service issue(s) regarding service provider
Please note that pricing and services are subject to change.
*If your primary computer is under BUMC IT support contract , we will assist you with no additional charge. Otherwise the standard BUMC IT service charge is $100.00 an hour
**In certain unforeseen circumstances even a minor troubleshooting may take longer than initially expected and may require a payment ( the standard BUMC IT service charge is $100.00 an hour)
