SECURITY ANNOUNCEMENT McAfee Virus Scan 8.0.0 no longer updating
It has come to our attention that McAfee’s Virus Scan Enterprise 8.0.0 edition is no longer updating its virus definition files and is not providing protection from newly discovered viruses. We urge everyone still using this edition to upgrade immediately. Releases prior to version 8 have reached their end of life, are no longer supported, and should be upgraded.
To determine which version you have, right-click on the V-Shield located in the lower-right toolbar, near the clock. Select About VirusScan… If you have 8.0 or earlier, please upgrade. If you are using a new version, you should be fine.
The latest versions of the BU site licensed McAfee virus scan products can be downloaded from:http://www.bu.edu/pcsc/virus/software/
As we are aware of some computers experiencing problems with upgrading, we recommend you uninstall all old versions of all anti virus products prior to installing the latest version to avoid unnecessary down time.
