Office Trash Removal

A campus wide notice went outĀ April 16th regarding a new initiative regarding office refuse. A copy of this release is located here.

How does this process work?

-Everyone will leave all non-recyclable items in the rubbish barrel and leave it outside of their office door, in their suite’s common area at the end of every day.
-As always, we encourage everyone to place all recyclable items in their recycling bins.

What if my office is not part of a suite?

-If your office opens to the hallway, do not leave barrels in the hallway. Speak to the custodian in your area regarding preferences of where to leave the barrels.

What areas are included in this process?

The administrative and office areas in the buildings where BU has custodial responsibilities:
560 Harrison Ave, 3rd floor

What areas are not included in this process?

-Lab space, clinical areas and classrooms are not included in this process. This only affects office areas.

What are the benefits of this process?

-This will save time while allowing the productivity of the custodians to increase as there will no longer be time that is spent opening and entering many offices which do not have any trash to be emptied.
-This will make everyone more conscious of our commitment to Sustainability on campus.

Thank you for your help with this new initiative and for your continued support with our recycling program. If you have any questions please feel free to direct them to our office via phone 617-638-4211 or email
