Simran’s end of program practicum was featured in an updated disaster manual for the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service. With the help and guidance of the Food Distribution Division Disaster Response Team and her HEM practicum advisor, Professor J.J. Burke, Simran’s work was successful in creating a “Nutrition Resources for Disaster Feeding which includes a new USDA Foods Nutrition Table” for the USDA.
Simran, a California native, obtained her MS-HEM as a full-time student entirely from her home in Oro Valley, Arizona, where she currently resides. She is currently in her second year at Jacksonville State University working towards her D.Sc. in Emergency Management and plans on completing her doctoral dissertation on improving HICS.
