Admissions Requirements & Tuition Information

Eligibility for Admission

Applicants must:

  • have a baccalaureate degree in  public health, psychology, emergency management, biology, natural science, criminal justice, fire science, sociology, registered nurses or management science from an accredited university
  • demonstrate an interest or background in healthcare emergency management.

We offer rolling admissions, but recommend that applicants interested in Spring admission (January) apply by November 30, and those interested in Fall admission (September) apply by May 30.

For the 2008-2009 academic year tuition at the Graduate School is $1184 per credit up to 11 credits per 16-week semester. Tuition for 12 or more credits per semester is $18,955 per 16-week semester.

An application package includes:

(1) A completed online application (please note HEM is aka Biomedical Crisis Management)
(2) Three letters of recommendation
(3) Official (sealed) Transcript(s) sent from your former college and/or graduate school to Boston University School of Medicine
(4) A personal statement
(5) Curriculum Vitae or Resumé
(6) GRE scores (the institution code you will need is 3251) or MCAT scores (MCAT scores are to be mailed or faxed in, please do not send them online)
(7) International Students must submit their TOEFL scores (the institution code you will need is 3251)
(8) Non-refundable online application fee $60 & paper application is $50 (see the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences for a printable version of the application)
