Robin Cotton, Ph.D, Associate Professor, Director Biomedical Forensic Sciences

Dr. Cotton is the Director of the Biomedical Forensic Sciences Program and teaches courses in Forensic DNA Analysis.  She is an expert in the fields of DNA identification and analysis of biological evidence, whereby she has testified in over 200 cases - including numerous high profile cases - around the country.  In October of 2006 Dr. Cotton joined the faculty at the Boston University School of Medicine to be the Director of the Biomedical Forensic Sciences Program.  rwcotton@bu.edu

Amy Brodeur, M.F.S, Instructor, Assistant Director Biomedical Forensic Sciences

Ms. Brodeur teaches in the areas of crime scene investigation and forensic biology.  She has a background in criminalistics and forensic DNA analysis, and has worked in both the private and public sector.  Ms. Brodeur continues to conduct forensic examinations and provide expert testimony on a contractual basis with the Boston Police Department Crime Laboratory.  abrodeur@bu.edu

Adam Hall, M.S., Instructor

Mr. Hall teaches courses in Forensic Chemistry and related disciplines within Forensic Instrumental Analysis. His training in forensic science was obtained at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory as well as several courses through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Mr. Hall provides expert testimony related to previous criminal cases throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. His current research projects involve use of Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry as well as the use of Biodiesel and E85 as potential ignitable liquids in arson related events.  adamhall@bu.edu

Catherine Grgicak, Ph.D, Instructor

Dr. Grgicak teaches courses in forensic DNA analysis.  Her forensic DNA training was obtained at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and continued at Cellmark Diagnostics in Germantown MD.  Her current research focuses on optimizing DNA recovery during extraction, development of extraction procedures aimed at detecting and separating cells from multiple sources as well as developing cost effective DNA quantification methods.  cgrgicak@bu.edu

Tara L. Moore, Ph.D, Assistant Professor, Director Forensic Anthropology

Dr. Moore is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology and teaches courses in Anatomy and Forensic Anthropology.  She has recently completed training sessions with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Human Remains Recovery and Evidence Collection and Analysis. Additionally, she is a co-investigator on several research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health that investigate the effects of age and age-related disease on the brain.  tlmoore@bu.edu

Elizabeth Laposata, M.D, Adjunct Associate Professor

Dr. Laposata is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Biomedical Forensic Sciences and Forensic Anthropology programs. She is a board certified Medical Examiner and teaches courses in Forensic Pathology and Medicolegal Death Investigation and is course director for the Forensic Toxiocology course.  Dr. Laposata is on campus 2 days a week teaching and advising students.  laposata@bu.edu
