Partners in Contraceptive Choice and Knowledge

Partners in Contraceptive Choice and Knowledge (PICCK)

This program aims to promote excellence in contraceptive care through provider education and practice transformation.

The core values of PICCK are:

  • Every person has a right to comprehensive family planning services, including deciding if and when to parent
  • Every person has a right to complete and accurate information about all contraceptive methods
  • Reproductive health services should honor individual, religious, and cultural preferences
  • Advocates, educators and providers should partner in non-coercive, patient-centered care rooted in principles of autonomy, equity, and justice

The PICCK intervention focuses on 5 areas of improving contraceptive services:

  1. Patient-centered counseling (through shared decision-making)
  2. Immediate postpartum LARC (Long-Acting Reversible Contraception)
  3. Same day LARC
  4. Easy access to emergency contraception
  5. Pregnancy intention assessment
