Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Core Lab
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Core Facility
DOM locations: X-Lab 430
Facility Manager: Xuemei Zhong, Ph.D.
Lab Technician: Nathalie Bitar
The IHC core facility is here to help maximize research on human and animal tissues with immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) staining technology. The IHC core provides the most current polymer technology to maximize detection, sensitivity, and batch-to-batch stability.
The IHC core lab is currently equipped with a Biocare decloaker for antigen retrieval for immunohistochemistry staining, a hypercenter for tissue processing for parrafin embedding, a Leica Microtome for sectioning paraffin tissue blocks, and a Biocare IntelliPATH FLX autostainer. The intelliPATH FLX autostainer, an automated slide stainer can perform automated IHC or IF staining of up to 50 different slides simultaneously. The total flexibility of the stainer provides a fast tool to optimize new antibodies and tissues in as short as one day. The convenience of the stainer allows for multiple users to run multiple batches at the same time. It is particularly helpful for research projects which require constant optimization and frequent change of conditions from experiment to experiment. The IHC core facility will assist investigators with the entire process of immuno-incubation and color development of tissue slides for immuno-labeling.
