Nominations for 2020 BUMC Staff Management Acumen and Performance (MAP) Program

The BUMC Provost’s Office is looking for candidates for the 2020 Staff Management Acumen and Performance (MAP) Program. The five-month program will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 7, on the Medical Campus and is geared to leaders, managers or individual contributors who are looking for the next step in professional development – to gain leadership skills in their current roles or prepare for an increase of scope in responsibilities.

 Program content includes (but not limited to):

  • Lean Principles
  • Personal Development
  • Inclusive Leadership
  • Negotiation Skills


Eligible Staff are:

  • BUMC Directors, managers or individual contributors who are looking for the next development step;
  • Willing to commit to attending 5½ full days of skills training; and
  • Effective, innovative, reliable and capable of mobilizing and energizing others.

Interested? Please discuss this with your manager, department chair or center director, who should submit your name, CV and a brief description of your promise as a leader (paragraph or two, no more than one page) by Friday, Oct. 11, to Tony Rizzo, Assistant Dean for Financial & Administrative Operations, BUSM.

The program capacity is 40 employees; programs will be offered every six to eight months.

Candidates will be chosen on the strength of their promise as a leader/contributor, balance across schools and diversity of backgrounds and expertise.
