Summer Interns Educate Us at Symposium

GMS summer interns.
GMS summer interns.

Returning from a stimulating field trip to the Pfizer’s Research Technology Center in Cambridge,  there was enough time to go back to the lab to finish experiments. In five days Johanna, Samanta, Vincent, Joshua, Chino, Jessica, Rachael, Maria, Derrius, Carlos and Jordan will present the results of an independent research project to an appreciative audience.

At the Second Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, sponsored by the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences, the cohort, a group of academically talented undergraduate interns, who are traditionally underrepresented in biomedical sciences , will test their communication skills by explaining a distinct question that they’ve researched for 10 weeks. It is not always easy to repeat experiments without success, but persistence and curiosity may yield surprising results.

The symposium audience includes faculty mentors, postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, and friends, who may initially be anxious on behalf of the group, but ultimately expect to applaud and congratulate their special accomplishment on Friday, August 5. Please stop by the symposium in the BUSM Instructional Building room L-201, 12-3 p.m.
